About the seminars
Sensation & Perception Seminars are occasional, informal seminars designed to cover any aspect of research and scholarship in sensation and perception. Seminars run for one hour, about 5 or 6 times a year. It is a truly interdisciplinary seminar, for input from members of departments including Anatomy and Structural Biology, Anthropology, Art History and Theory, Biochemistry, Computer Science, Consumer Science, Dentistry, English, Geography, Human Nutrition, Information Science, Marine Science, Marketing, Mathematics and Statistics, Music, Ophthalmology, Philosophy, Physical Education, Physics, Physiology, Psychology, Surveying, Zoology.
Information for speakers
Talks should run no longer than 40 minutes, with the remainder of the time for discussion. Any sort of talk is welcome, including journal-club type, reviews of topics, proposals for experiments, work-in-progress reports, and reports of experiments. Topics can range over anything relevant to S&P. Past talks have included a tour of the Animation Research Unit, a review of the work of the Sensory Evaluation Unit, the role of visual refraction errors in dentistry, visual perception of tumors in mammograms, and research establishing that our ears emit, as well as receive, sounds. The atmosphere is informal, with interrupting questions encouraged!
